I Eagerly Await Your Embrace

When the vibrant colors have turned dull and gray
When the brilliant lights have turned dim and dreary
When the boisterous sounds have turned faint and noiseless
When the strong aromas have turned musty and stale
When the savory tangs have turned bland and tasteless
I eagerly await your embrace

When my eyes no longer see the dazzling beauty
When my ears no longer hear the mellifluous music
When my nose no longer smells the pleasant fragrances
When my tongue no longer tastes the rich flavors
When my heart no longer feels the warm emotions
I eagerly await your embrace

When the anticipation has turned into longing
When the pleasure has turned into pain
When the joy has turned into misery
When the hope has turned into despair
When the passion has turned into emptiness
I eagerly await your embrace

When the smiles have turned into scowls
When the grins have turned into grimaces
When the laughter has turned into tears
When the giggles have turned into sniffles
When the chuckles have turned into sobs
I eagerly await your embrace

When the agony has become unbearable
When the distress has become unendurable
When the anguish has become insufferable
When the sorrow has become intolerable
When the desperation has become indescribable
I eagerly await your embrace

When the world has turned into a gloomy abyss
When my life no longer has a meaning or purpose
When my soul has long been dead and my mind has lost its will to live
When the idea of vanishing has become my fascination
When the thought of an eternal slumber has become my bliss
I eagerly await your embrace

Death oh sweet, sweet Death
My only friend in this lonely, desolate place
My sole companion in this empty, barren land
My single comrade in this cruel, wretched reality
Why have you not come for me yet?
I eagerly await your embrace
