Who am I? Well, I have pondered this
question for quite a while myself, until I came to really understand myself and
devised a list of things that I believe truly define me. And I would like to
share several of those aspects of my identity with you, my dear readers, so
that you may all get to know me better. Perhaps you will find that we have
things in common, and you might be able to better relate to me.
The first thing you should know about me is that I am a third culture kid. I was born to Egyptian parents in Chicago, Illinois on July 19, 1996. I grew up in Saudi Arabia, in a very culturally diverse place called Dhahran Aramco, where I was exposed to and interacted with people of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, cultures, and religions. I attended three different international American schools (Dhahran Hills School, Dhahran Middle School, and Dhahran High School), where I met and befriended many remarkably unique people of various nationalities, and learned from them a great deal about numerous cultures. Moreover, I completed the International Baccalaureate Program (fellow sufferers of the IB, I understand your pain) in my last two years of high school, which further allowed me to gain a broader perspective of the world. Therefore, you can say that I am very empathetic, open-minded, and accepting of people regardless of the differences we may have. I currently live in Egypt, where I am studying medicine at New Giza University. No matter where I end up, I will always consider Aramco, the place where I spent most of my life and love more than anything, my dear precious home. A huge shout-out to all the Aramcons out there! You guys are the best.

The number one most important thing
in my life is my religion, Islam. I consider myself deeply religious. My love
for God has no limits, and my faith in Him is stronger than anything. My family
comes second. I was raised in a family of seven. I have an older sister, an
older brother, a twin sister, and a younger sister. And no, my twin sister and
I are not identical and look nothing alike. However, ironically enough, my
litter sister and I look exactly the same. People often mistake us for each
other, and many cannot tell us apart. You would think that we are the twins of
the family. I love all my siblings to death, and I consider them my best
friends. I love my parents even more, without whom I would not be who I am
today. I owe my family so much, and they are the greatest blessing I have.
As the title of this post implies, I
am an introvert. Like most introverts, I am often quiet but it is tremendously
loud inside my head. I tend to not say much, but my mind never shuts up. However,
although I am not talkative most of the time, if I have a chance to speak about
something I am passionate about, I become the biggest chatterbox there is. I
could talk about things I love for the next ten years and still not have
enough. I truly believe that I am the most introverted person on the planet,
for the happiest times of my life are always when I am in complete solitude. I
could literally go months without interacting with a single human being, and I
would be the most ecstatic person ever. I absolutely love living in my own
world. I love staying at home and totally despise going out. Fellow introverts,
let us unite separately in our own homes!
As apparent from my writing style and
childish remarks in this post, I am extremely childish. My mental age is eight,
no joke. I still sleep with stuffed animals. In fact, I even take my stuffed
chimp Chu Chu with me to university and sit him on my lap during lectures. I
still watch child-oriented cartoons and am amused and entertained by them. I still
watch Barbie movies and greatly love and enjoy them. I listen to Disney music. I
have a very colorful, childish-looking anime bag that I use in university.
Because of the ten+ anime keychains hanging from it, it makes loud clinking
noises as I walk. I have zero interest in adult desires like sex, drugs, and
money. I find adults too serious and boring for me, and I usually get along
with kids more. The list goes on and on.
I am a tomboy, but this side of me
usually only comes out at home. I love keeping my hair short and getting tomboy
haircuts. I love wearing baggy hoodies and sweatpants. I love wrestling with my
siblings. I loathe girly things like makeup and heels. I cannot stand girly
conversations about clothes and cosmetics. I hate shopping like I hate nothing
else. I have zero tolerance for girl drama. I get along a lot better with guys
than girls.
I consider myself a very weird,
eccentric individual. I think about odd things that no one else thinks about. I
say strange things that no one else says. I do peculiar things that no one else
does. I know people make fun of me due to my unusual personality, childish
nature, and abnormal behavior, and I could not care less. I love myself, and I
refuse to be anyone else but me. I will not pretend to be someone I am not just
for the sake of pleasing others or fitting in. I refuse to conform to society.
I will be who I want to be and do what I want to do, and people’s opinions of
me do not affect me in the least bit. I am happy the way I am and would not
change a single thing about myself. I believe I am unique and extraordinary.
What kinds of things do I enjoy
doing during my free time? Well, besides writing, my other main hobby is
reading. I am addicted to books and cannot possibly imagine a life without
reading. Fellow bookworms will relate. I mostly read fiction but also enjoy any
nonfiction book related to nature or animals. My favorite series of all time is
my beloved Warriors series by Erin Hunter, which I absolutely adore. It is
very, very dear to my heart and no words can describe how much it means to me.
Sometimes I wish I could just leave this mouse-brained Twoleg life and live
with the Clan cats! (Only Warriors fans will understand these references.)
In addition, I sometimes read manga.
For those of you who do not know what manga is, it is Japanese comics. But
perhaps my favorite pastime of all is watching anime (Japanese
cartoons/animated shows). Yup, I am an otaku. "Otaku" is a Japanese
term used to refer to people who are obsessed with anime. But saying that I am
obsessed with anime would be an understatement. Anime is literally my life. It
is my happiness, my joy, my passion. I eat, breathe, and sleep anime. To all my
fellow otakus out there, let me just make it clear right from the beginning
that Levi Ackerman is mine and mine only. Kyaaaaa watashi wa Levi Heichou ga
daisuke! For those of you who did not understand, do not worry about it. Only
weeabos (Japanese wannabes) will understand what I am saying. FELLOW WEEBS
UNITE! We shall take over the world soon.
Something else I enjoy doing every
once in a while is playing video games. I am not much of a gamer, but one game
I love from the bottom of my heart and am an avid fan of is Kingdom Hearts. Got
it memorized? (Only true Kingdom Hearts fans will understand this allusion.)
Furthermore, I love watching 3D or animated movies, such as Disney and
DreamWorks films. My three favorite Disney movies are The Lion King, Tarzan,
and Wreck-it Ralph. I have watched The Lion King at least about four-hundred
times and can recite the whole thing word for word. My favorite DreamWorks
films are the Madagascar movies, as I am totally head over heels in love with
the penguins and especially my baby Skipper. Always remember Skipper’s words: “Just
smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave. Cute and cuddly, boys. Cute and cuddly.”
Other movies I enjoy watching are movie adaptations of books, as I like
comparing them with the original works. Of course the book is always infinity
times better than the movie, and you cannot even possibly argue against that.
Nevertheless, I still love and enjoy most of these movie adaptations, such as
The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. My favorite has got to be
Divergent, as I am crazy for Four (Tobias). He is bae.
Lastly, I love physical activities.
I do weight training on a regular basis, as I aim to become a buff girl one
day. There are a couple of sports I enjoy playing. I love badminton, and
perhaps it is the sport I play best. But my favorite sport is basketball. I
have a burning passion for this sport, although I admit I am not so good at it.
For that reason I have never played it competitively or joined an official
team, but I have joined clubs before and I play it with friends every once in a
while. I am a huge Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry fan. #DubNation.
#StephGonnaSteph. #ThisIsWhyWePlay. Not to mention how adorable Steph’s
daughter Riley is, and the fact that we have the same birthday. How awesome is
that? I love the Currys so much that I named my basketball after Riley. Yup, I
am so attached to my basketball that I gave it a name.
Now let us talk about my love for
nature and animals. My love for nature knows no bounds. I love, love, love,
love, LOVE, LOVE nature and wildlife. I cannot possibly emphasize it enough.
Nature is my peace and my tranquility. Nothing is better than spending time in
nature. My dream is to travel the world and visit every single natural place
out there and see all the different species that reside on this earth. I want
to one day live in a tree house in the middle of the jungle, or in a cabin in
the middle of the woods. I want to be surrounded by the beauty of nature. I
love all animals. My favorite animals are cats, ducks, penguins, gorillas, and
chimps. I had over twenty pet cats throughout my life. I also had dogs, birds,
chicks, rabbits, turtles, frogs, and fish. I prefer making friends with animals
than humans. To me, animals are the most loyal, friendly, and loving of friends.
I can truly bond with them. My inspiration and role model is Jane Goodall, and
I wish to become an environmentalist and an animal rights activist like her.
I am a passionate dreamer and a
fervent believer. I am full of wild ideas, bizarre thoughts, and profound
emotions. I love creating worlds of my own and living in them— worlds of
adventure and fantasy, of heroism and bravery, of friendship and family, of
unbreakable bonds and loyalty, of betrayal and cowardice, of dread and horror, of
grief and misery, of delight and ecstasy, and of wonder and beauty. I am in
love with extraordinary, magical, stories that touch my heart and teach me
meaningful things. Perhaps this is why I love fictional worlds so much. I love
escaping into their stories and having a new adventure. Perhaps this is why I
love writing so much, as I get to create and tell my own unique story. My
ultimate dream in life is to publish the best fantasy series the world has ever
seen.
These are the things I believe are
the most prominent aspects of myself and my personality. I hope you enjoyed
reading this and found me to be an interesting person.
